JOHN CARTER WARLORD OF MARS N°20 (January 1979)

I already said that I felt that Ernie wasn't realy suited to pencil John Carter because he did made the whole thing (and the hero in particular) look enough good looking and clean. This issue would also make me lie, as Ernie inking himself proves to be a huge improvement! The amount of work on this issue (on background and rich rendering) seems really huge, and the result is something very pleasing to the eye and closer to what I feel is the right approach for the serie.

Ernie is even playing the Gil Kane part on this final fight scene, with this Kane signature way of throwing people on floor! With this issue, Ernie proves that he's at least on the same level than all those amazing pencillers who worked on John Carter (Carmine Infantino, Gil Kane...)
