AMETHYST PRINCESS OF GEMWORLD N°1 (January 1985)

After the huge success of the limited serie and the promise of perhaps a toy deal, DC asked Dan Mishkin and Gary Cohn to continue the adventures of Amethyst right after the maxi-serie and the Amethyst Annual. Ernie wasn't able to pencil the new ongoing serie  because he had The Medusa Chain graphic novel to worry about.

And, helas, Ernie proves to be the missing piece here. Even if you can spot his influence in some background, in the way Amy hair are drawn, he's only inking over Ric Estrada and, not to put any blame on Ric Estrada, he's clearly not the man needed here. Nothing is frightening or surprising anymore and the first visual reappearance of Dark Opal (look below) make us wonder if we are not now reading a comics for young silly girls. 

Overall, fantastic job of Ernie as an inker!
