SOLAR MAN OF THE ATOM VOL.2 N°5 (January 1991)

Jim Shooter just couldn't pass the opportunity to use Ernie, one of the ongoing pencillers of the original Solar Man of the Atom Dell serie, on his Valiant relaunch of the character. Ernie will be offered, along Steve Ditko, to be the ongoing penciller of Magnus Robot Fighter and will sign of his bests pages there.

At the moment, on Solar, Ernie prestation is quite good, but a little studio-shaped, especially because the typical Valiant color palette is used and because Ernie is not inking himself. Still, that's not a disapointment at all, it's a real pleasure to see Ernie coming back to this character for a one shot, especially since the vilain in this issue has a kind of Ernie touch. To convince yourself, just look at this disturbing scene:
