Tension continues to climb up in numerous subplots as Gary Cohn is making an amazing job, frightening the reader with some really freaking scenes like Rita's dad entering Carl house and being the victim of a really disturbing magic sacrifice involving the creepy Dark Opal's clasp. It's the last issue for Gary Cohn, DC wanting a new direction for the serie, not as successfull as they hope it would be. Is it the reason why Ernie Colon is writing the dialogs and Gary only credited as the plotter?
Anyway, that's one of the best Amehtyst issues ever drawn by Ernie, for reasons too numerous to be detailed here. Let's just give two, with the return of those "shadowy" frames or backgrounds. There is an amazing average number of 8 panels per page, yet coupled with a sense of space and freedom rarely seen in what should have been so crowded pages. The magic is back and 200% working!
