First of all, the obvious: I'm deeply sorry to not have update this blog during one year. I needed something to put me back on track, something unusual and it has been on the shelves of some french shops those last few months: after years of legal troubles, ANNE BRANK: A BIOGRAPHY is at last available in french, published by Belin.

Better late than never, right?
Once I finished my issue of SCARCE focusing on Ernie Colon (issue#77 in 2011, still available, but in french), I stayed in contact with someone at Belin because they seem on the verge of releasing the french version of ANNE FRANK.
Well, it took them 5 (FIVE!) years to make it and they didn't bother to warn me or send me a copy (because hey, why send a copy to the guy who's running a blog on its artist, wrote a nice review of the US version and is running a magazine on Us comics, WHY?). Sometimes, I'm deseperate when I see how much silly ineffective efforts some french publishers go to to promote their book, when there are people out there, passionnate, who would do their PR work for free if only they would take the effort to make a simple google search request...

Review of the original version in SCARCE #77 (2011) Part 1
So, this french version is available since March. I haven't seen a copy yet. As always in France, this type of educa-comics is very difficult to promote and sell: BDs shop just don't receive it at all, comics shops never heard of it and standart libraries don't want to hear about it because "hey, it's drawn, it can't be educational". Last time I checked, the book was already unavailable, probably not because of its success, but because the publisher printed very few copies and made a crappy job of promoting it. I would be happy to be wrong.

Part 2 of my review in SCARCE #77
Anyhow, it's out there and guess what: THE WARREN COMMISSION REPORT has also been translated, under the french title QUI A TUE KENNEDY? and is available since September 2015 from Nouveau Monde Editions. Same punishment here, no real PR work to promote the book seems to have been done since I'm only discovering this today.
But, hey, I'm grounchy and all but I'm in a good mood. There are stills a lot of things to post here, the big mega-list of Ernie's comicography with a link to each review, and more.
