AMAZING HEROES N°116 (May 1987)

Ernie Colon interviewed AND drawing the cover of a magazine?

That's a rarity for sure. That was the second time Ernie did an Amazing Heroes cover and had some pages inside devoted to him.

Not only is the interview really interesting because it replaces the differents projects Ernie was working on a planned schedule but it also provided a lot of scarce art. Up here is an unfinished version of the cover reprint of Manimal.

Matt Champion never made it past issue #1 at Metro. We can here that the cover of issue #2 and probably #3 (below) were ready. That probably means that they are some unpublished Matt Champion pages laying somewhere...

Ernie wanted to find another home for Matt champion but it never happened. Here is a panel from a children coloring book Ernie did (I'l have to dig to find that).

All in all, no excuse to not purchase this issue of Amazing Heroes. It has been in my posession for years but I only noticed it recently -I didn't recognize Ernie's art on the cover at first-.

FANTAGRAPHICS  published AMAZING HEROES 116
Kim THOMPSON did the interview (13p)
and...
